Did you know that setting goals only does not guarantee results? Oh yeah it sounds pretty obvious right? This is not to say that setting goals is not important. It actually is, but that on its own is not enough.
Setting Goals Only Does Not Guarantee Results-5 Things You Need
You actually need to set goals plus take action on those goals. This is where the results come from. Goals can be set for anything see how I categorized mine at the beginning of the year Goal Setting
Are you continuously putting so much effort, that is you have set the goals and you are taking action and still no results? Don’t worry I have got the 5 things you really need to get you the desired results:
This refers to being courageous, feisty or resolute. Being prepared to see things through to the end. I have met people who are starters and never finishers of anything. I remember having a student who was telling me the number of courses she has done before but no qualification. Right there I could identify where her problem was, she was a starter and never a finisher.
A few days ago I was talking to my client who has been in the business for over 30 years. He was telling me that he has seen garages open and close within a short time as these new entrants were selling at such low prices that they were unsustainable and ended up going out of business.
However, these new garages did take customers from him but he knew that these new entrants were not going to last for long and he was right as they lacked courage.
Endurance is necessary to be able to stand during the tough times. According to one of my clients he has seen business spring up in his street only to close within a short time. He stated that the reason was that people just assume it is easy, they are not well informed and neither are they prepared to weather the storms.
This reminded me of my fitness goals how I usually struggle in winter as my bed is just too warm and won’t let me out. However, I must say I did well this winter I kept exercising despite the cold. I was sleepy but exercised until I was wide awake.
Here the main emphasis is on putting money aside for the dry quiet seasons as these they are not avoidable they will surely come. So be prepared so that you can weather the storm.

I actually think this affects everyone whether you are in business or not. For instance, losing a job can put one in a financial predicament I can attest to this one because I went through it. The good thing is that we had savings to lean on during this time.
One thing I have learnt is to seize opportunities for instance they are times when I am really busy and business is high. This time I work really hard and make as much as I can and put money aside to cover the quiet times. I remember just before Christmas last year I was super busy and hubby wanted me to take time off. I was like nope I can’t I will take time off during the quiet times.
Be prepared for the quiet times
For my client during the quiet times he fixes the cars which are in his yard, spray paints and then sells them. I have noticed that in Australia during winter it tends to be so quiet. I am sure it is the same in other countries as well.
I have been speaking to businesses in the hospitality. They seem to be experiencing low business as people tend to stay indoors and not go out. I also spoke to someone in the bricklaying business who was telling me that business was quiet as it usually rains and they can’t build houses when it is raining.
When business is low some companies will advise employees not to come to work. So this affects everybody not just companies.
Support structure of like-minded people
This is something I figured out when I started working for myself. It is important to have a support structure of like-minded people. The reason being business challenges are different from employment challenges and the vice versa is true. So you have to brainstorm with like-minded people as they would be able to relate to you. See my post; 5 Reasons You Need People Who Support your Dream.
However I still think irregardless of where you are in life, a strong support structure is important.
