Overpowering Fear, the Greatest Enemy of Your Dreams

Overpowering Fear, the Greatest Enemy of Your Dreams

Overpowering fear the greatest enemy of your dreams-In my experience being fearful comes with entering into unknown zones.
I have noticed that when I am driving to a new area or sitting an exam Iget a bit apprehensive.  I would be thinking  that I might get lost or in an exam I would be like did I really study enough.  When I think of an idea I get so excited,  however when I start actually implementing that idea negative thoughts do show up.

I would have thoughts like: you have never done this before.   I respond by saying

I wasn’t born knowing how to walk but I learnt

So I recognize these self-defeating thoughts and instead speak to myself and tell myself that I know I can do anything that I put my mind to.  I silence the thoughts and focus on the task at hand.

Fear attacks action, not intention

This is the reason behind the excitement at planning stage because everything seems possible at this stage.  However when you take action the attacks start. Their goal is to stop us from being who we were created to be.

My 5 steps guide to overcoming fear

  • I refuse to let it dominate me, instead I tell myself I can do anything that I set my mind on and succeed
  • I tell myself if it doesn’t work out, I will figure out what works
  • I focus on the new project at hand
  • I medicate on the word of God which is the final authority in my life. I speak the promises of God over myself for they are yes and amen.
  • I tell myself I would rather take action than live in regret.

So if you are thinking of venturing into something new my advice is just start. When I started my blog, I was so excited at the designing stage.  However the day I published it all excitement had vanished.  I was so nervous that what if my work was not good enough.

I had to deal with my fears by telling myself that; this is a start.  Of course it’s not perfect but it is my own work. I will get better with time as I learn new things.  Now I am confident and I keep writing I do not have those thoughts anymore my focus is on getting better.

Imagine the things we would miss out on in life if we live in fear
