A Knock On My Door & Then A Free Gift Everyday………

Yes, I get a free gift every day early in the morning delivered to my doorstep.  I get a knock on my door and as I open the door, a big box which is nicely wrapped with all the beautiful wrappings and ribbons is handed to me.
On that parcel its written in bold beautiful letters
TODAY.

This is the response to the question hubby asked me one day about what I was grateful for.  My response was kind of something I visualised. Then I decided to write a blog post about it as my thoughts developed.

So I thought every single day I get this gift. How many times in my life have I taken time out to be thankful? How many times have I complained about what I didn’t have?

I thought it was time I make some changes in my life;

Do not allow yesterday to steal today
The past can be such a drain on TODAY and zap the energy out of me, I am sure it does the same to you.  Actually as I write this post today I woke up feeling so blah-blah you know what I mean feeling low.

This was because I was reviewing the last year results and wasn’t impressed. So as I was driving early morning, I looked outside the window while deep in thought thinking about the results obviously.  I had another thought just flying in admiring how beautiful the day was.

This reminded that just as I woke up today I got a GIFT. The gift of TODAY and suddenly I started thinking about using TODAY wisely and slashing my task list.

You see I had initially started my day wrong by focusing on last year’s results. However, the moment my thoughts shifted to seeing TODAY as a gift, I started focusing on how to make this year great.

Be present in the moment
Before complaining about what I haven’t achieved, instead be thankful for the gift of TODAY.   I might not have it now but as long as I have the gift of TODAY I still have the opportunity to create my dream.

TODAY as I took my kids to school, I kind of savoured the moment.  I stood outside my daughter’s class room listening to the noise from the kids running around and talking.

I thought I have done this several times but today it felt like I was very present in that moment than just school drop off and rushing back. I waited outside for almost 10 minutes after the bell rang because my daughter wanted me to.  Normally I would have said “sweetie mummy has some work to do” Instead I thought that can wait, let me make this girl happy.

Use my gift wisely for it only lasts hours
Due to my being so present TODAY and just realising that TODAY is a gift made me to be more focused. I think it’s because I am really treating it as a gift. This reminds of the gifts I get for Mother’s Day, birthdays etc. I treasure them and take my time to remove the wrappings.
I am like from TODAY onwards I will make an effort to treasure TODAY and treat it as gift because it is a gift.

I will now allow the past setbacks, disappointments to come and rob me of any of my hours in TODAY.  I will make each minute, second and hour count because that is how a gift should be used.

Honestly I am thinking I keep my money in my wallet or safe in the bank. I do not leave it lying around in case someone steals it. So why am I not doing the same with my time.

Why do we allow yesterday to come and steal our TODAY? Why not live yesterday to yesterday?

I hope this article helps you really get the epiphany moment to see that every single day you receive the gift of TODAY. As for me I am making a choice to always remind myself that TODAY is a gift every single day.

As always feel free to comment and share my articles
