You are probably wondering if excuses are a sickness of some sort? No not really but I am on a mission to Diagnose and Destroy anything that stands on my way to attaining my dream.
Diagnose & Destroy go together you cannot do one without the other for instance, most people do not know that they are making excuses until someone points it out. You cannot deal with something which you do not know exists.
My kids have been on two weeks of school holidays and the weather has been so terrible. It has been raining and freezing cold every single day. I am sure all you parents agree with me that it’s not fun keeping kids indoors.
My family loves outdoors and the feel of the fresh air on our faces as we walk or jog outside is the best feeling ever and the energy that comes from exercising is amazing.
I am really not into exercising indoors I struggle with this so in winter I tend to put on weight. I don’t like this because it means I have to work harder after winter to shed the weight off.
So anyways we couldn’t walk every single day because it was pouring. On the days when it wasn’t pouring we dressed warmly and then walked as we have a NO EXCUSES POLICY.
This blog post topic for this week came from the dialogue I overheard between hubby and our eldest child last weekend. They were talking about going bike riding this made me think of EXCUSES then I thought it would be an awesome idea to go through an EXCUSES challenge. So if you find yourself making excuses I would recommend you try the following medication to cure you from excuses;
Ask yourself what’s the worst thing that could ever happen to me.
Hubby goes bike riding with the kids every weekend, so last weekend our eldest reminded him it was time for bike riding. Hubby wasn’t that keen because it was raining, I felt sorry for him though but he had to keep his word. That’s the way we roll in our house if you know you can’t do it, it’s simply do not agree.
Our eldest responded by saying that;
“Do you melt in the rain? if you don’t, then let’s go”
Tough like her mum don’t you agree? I raise tough kids the world is ruthless out there so I have to prepare my kids. Nobody cares even if you cry, they are not your mum or dad.
Never too late to adopt the NO MORE EXCUSES POLICY
We are more than half way through the year, how far are you from achieving your goals or new year’s resolutions? If you haven’t achieved them have you reviewed them, what has stopped you? Is it possible that you are making excuses, if you are: try introducing a NO MORE EXCUSES POLICY?
Be Flexible But Still Do It
My usual routine of exercising is early in the morning, however during school holidays my routine gets disturbed. The kids would be sleeping and I do want them to sleep in so instead I wake up in the morning as usual and do my work. Just to put a disclaimer here I am not really a fitness guru I just do simple things like walking, skipping, jogging, planks etc. and I eat healthy that’s all
So when my daughter is riding her bike or scooter I use this opportunity to run behind her and therefore this gives me my cardio work out. When I get to the park, in between pushing her on the swings I do not sit down but I watch my kids and walk around at the same time.
As you can see this is a choice I make, instead of using my kids as an excuse for not working out.
I remember when they were babies I used to put them in the pram and walk. If it was very cold I would wrap the baby in blankets and put a rain cover to block the wind.
Hold Yourself Responsible
So you see its very important to keep the promises we make to ourselves and hold ourselves responsible.
Honestly if you do not keep your own word to yourself, how can you expect other people to trust your word.
Build a relationship with yourself & don’t let yourself down. If you let yourself down how can you expect other people to trust your word.
List Your Excuses Down and Solutions Next to them
What excuses are you making which stop you from doing the things you love? I have had to self-check myself and list my excuses so that;
I can smash the excuses and snatch my dream
- What do I do with my kids? Go with them
- I will do it next year? This is procrastination just start now or it will never happen.
- It would be betters when I have ABC. No It won’t just do it, what if you never get ABC.
- I have got no time? Create the time
- I will start after winter. No you won’t once you step out of routine it’s hard to go back. Have you tried studying after a long break yeah I have found myself falling asleep while carrying a book?
- I have no money- No that’s no true if you want it that much you will allocate a budget for it.
Did you that if you want an excuse for anything in life, you will find it. There are so many and they are free however they will cost you your dream
