Africa is portrayed so badly by the media. I just thought I will do my part in showing a different side of Africa which is never shown.

I have been asked the following questions by people;
Do You Live on Trees in Africa?………….No.
Is this Africa?……………………………….Yes
How come you speak such good English?…..
People get surprised when they hear me speaking in English. My response has always been that in Africa we do learn English in schools and our exams are in English. However, we do also have our local languages.

I was born and raised in Africa, yes the good can come out of Africa. Oh by the way Africa is not a country it is a continent. I have realized that a lot of people think Africa is a country. Just like any other continent it has the good as well as the bad. However, Africa is always shown as bad. I was so stunned when I moved to the western world to see rundown buildings and homeless people because media never showed this.
Yes, we do have dilapidated buildings and the homeless in Africa but so does the western countries. Honestly, I am thinking who shows their dirty laundry to their neighbors. Nobody. So why does media like to show Africa’s dirty laundry to the world.

A friend of ours once asked my husband if we live on trees in Africa. She was asking so innocently and didn’t mean it in an offensive way at all. I then explained to her that we do have houses just like here in Australia, we do have chairs and Televisions to watch and radios to listen to. She listened with so much interest and enthusiasm. I could see the scales of blindness which have been portrayed by media falling off.

So if you have never been to Africa just check this beautiful place called Sun city Resort In South Africa. Visit the site and check it out here . This place is amazing, my kids loved it. As for me I couldn’t put the camera down because I wanted to capture every moment.

In terms of pricing I found it to be way very affordable especially if you are coming from a country where your currency is stronger that the South African Rand. My advice to you is that if you are going on holidays choose countries whose currency is less stronger than yours.
You can stay in the resort if you like or stay in the hotels or lodges nearby. You probably need to rent a car to use to drive to Sun-city which we did. For food there are a lot of restaurants at the resort. My preference would have been something like Tshisa Nyama, I tend to like to eat local foods when I am on holidays.

Check these elephant sculpture below; what can I say, I wish I could have something like that on a smaller scale on my back garden.

Thank you for reading, hope I have inspired you to visit Africa one day.
Love & Blessings,
Fiso
