4 Tricks to Help You Shop for Free

Did you know that you can shop for free?  Yes, you can at $0,  you just have to know where to shop.  Look I do not mean stealing ok, stealing is a crime.  I am talking about being money smart, knowing when and where to spend our hard earned dollar.

Have you ever bought something only to notice that you already have an exactly or a similar item in your closet?  Well I have, especially with my favourite colours. I have lots of striped items of different colours.  It’s as if all striped items in the shops call my name.

 My daughter recently bought a lovely stripped woollen top my favourite colours in blue and white. So I was looking at it thinking since we are in winter, I need a navy blue cardigan to complement it.

To be honest if I was at the shopping mall and saw a blue cardigan, I would have bought it.  So one day I wore this top and I was looking in my closet for something I could wear on top of it.

Lo and behold I spotted something, a navy blue cardigan.  One of my friends calls it shopping from your own wardrobe.

In any case how many things do I or do you have in your closer which have never been worn?  Or possible some have been worn once?

The answer is possible many,

I asked myself how many times have I spent money unnecessarily, when I had what I needed in my closet.

Now before I rush to the shopping mall I would do the following;

Check the closet first
As mentioned earlier I found exactly what I was looking for right there in my wardrobe.  I thought just what I needed and that saved my money.
The other day my daughter was wearing these beautiful stone coloured pants, I was like wow girl you look beautiful, where did you get those pants from? Yep I was asking I should have known right since I am the mum,  I bought the pants end of 2013 in South Africa.  She only wore them once and forgot about them, so did I, and all the time she was saying to me that she needed some more pants.

Rearrange Your Closet
So this cardigan which was in my closet was hiding underneath a navy blue blazer. Yeah I guess you have figured by now that I love navy blue.  So I decided to re-arrange my closet and make things more visible so I do not have to spend unnecessarily instead save myself the $$$.  I think what I would do going forward is to rearrange at every change of season. That way I won’t go winter wear shopping when I have got all the winter staff tucked in somewhere.

Find an Alternative
There are times even though I haven’t really found exactly what I wanted in my wardrobe, I would find something which complements what I am wearing.

Mix &Match
I know I am a girl, I love shopping as much as the girl next door but one thing I know is the answer to a different look is not always to do with hitting the shopping malls.  At times we just need to play around with what is in our closets, mix and match to produce a different look.

I have heard the statement that most people do not have a money problem but they have a money management problem. I agree with this statement; I hope this article helps you shop for free from the comfort of your own home.
